3M 1080 Matte Black Metallic
The Fiat Ducato motorhome – something of which is going to be a great trend moving into the summer of 2021. With holidays out the country looking slim during the Covid 19 period, local holidays are now growing in popularity. Therefor this particular client is gearing up for the summer by giving his motorhome a full exterior transformation. Beginning with a full vehicle wrap, mountain style side graphics with a selection of his favourite logo’s embossed into the vinyl. To compliment the new vehicle wrap, the customer went for a new set of wheels & tyres to give a more rugged stance.
The vehicle arrived to us in metallic silver with the standard bland camper graphics applied. Therefore we initially started with some on screen visuals for the client to review with our designer. Once the revisions are made and concept finalised, we begin the wrap process. This involves setting up the files to be cut by our production team whilst simultaneously prepping the vehicle in our workshop. Initially washing it down to then begin stripping the parts from the camper. Once the parts have been removed, a further preparations process is conducted to remove all contaminants from the surface. This allows the vinyl to sit flush and smooth across the surface. The base 3M Matte Metallic black was applied first covering all area of silver. Slight accents of 3M 2080 Gloss black was used in areas such as between the door pillars. To incorporate an embossed affect on the base black, the cut logo’s were applied first and then laying the black over. This gives a very dynamic appearance to the graphics giving it a more unique appeal. Once past this stage, we begun to apply the Avery Supreme Matt Metallic Grey mountains to the sides. This immediately changed the appearance into a more off-road ‘go anywhere’ vehicle. A great choice by the client and our design team. The final step was to install the new alloy wheels and off-road tyres.
The final results were incredible. A total transformation from the original vehicle which looked very bland and not adventurous at all. The client was greatly impressed with the design and finishes on the vinyl. Matte black is commonly used on off-road vehicles and with this camper, it definitely worked.
